About

In 1732-33 Telemann published the 12 Fantasies for 'transverse flute without bass', which he later followed up with 12 Fantasies for violin and viola da gamba. In these Fantasies, the composer is not bound to a rigid structure, but uses them as a vehicle for highly variable musical forms and means of expression.

In 1716, a Frankfurt first edition of the 'Little Chamber Music' by the 35-year old Georg Philipp Telemann appeared, which he himself described in a preface as "Little Chamber Music, consisting of 6 Parties, which are arranged in a light singing manner for the violin, transverse flute, and for the keyboard, but especially for the hautbois, so that a beginner can use them for practise, but also so that a virtuoso can show his ability in them".
