About

This Alba release features four of Timo-Juhani Kyllönen’s major orchestral works, performed by an orchestra and conductor who represent the fine St Petersburg music tradition.

It is Kyllönen’s belief that the fundamental motives for creating music spring from a desire to communicate with others. With his music he wants to convey goodness and positive energy, and by means of, and inspired by, music to find beauty amid chaos.

St Petersburg State Academic Capella Symphony Orchestra often appears in partnership with the world-famous Glinka Choir that rehearses and gives concerts in the same Capella building. Under its Chief Conductor Alexander Chernushenko it has made many highly-acclaimed tours of Europe and Asia. It is led by Stanislav Izmailov (b.1982), who is not only a violinist of solo standard but also a gifted composer.
