The Classic FM Gramophone Awards 2009 The Gramophone Awards represent the very best of classical music. One of the world?s most distinctive arts awards, and of incomparable influence, they continue to be the pinnacle for every classical performer. The awards were established in 1978 by Gramophone magazine and aim to reward the outstanding classical recordings of the year. The Gramophone Awards judges are a selection of the world?s finest critics who maintain the excellence of the prizes year after year. The winners of the awards are guaranteed a worldwide audience and a dramatic increase in sales of their recordings. This years nominees are listed below, split into 15 categories.
