More Details on Schubert - String Quartet D887, String Trios D471 & D581
This programme offers a revealing juxtaposition of Franz Schubert's last String Quartet, his most enigmatic and most original, with his two String Trios. These sole two essays in the genre, on which the composer never looked back, clearly herald the harmonic modernism of his late masterpieces.
The Prazák Quartet, as in its earlier readings of the 'Rosamunde' and 'Death in the Maiden' Quartets, vividly highlights the dramatic character of this music that, without any spiritual break, looks ahead to the dramatic unity of the Second Viennese School and the major scores of Zemlinsky, Berg and Schoenberg.
The Beethoven String Trio is made up of Czech musicians Pavel Hula, principal of the Kocian Quartet, Josef Kluson and Michael Kanka, respectively, violist and cellist of the Prazak Quartet.
