Johann Philipp Kirnberger (1721 – 1783) was a prolific composer in his time, composing operas, chamber works, songs, symphonies, overtures and keyboard works. A great admirer of J S Bach, he collected and catalogued works by many of his fellow composers, some of which are still used by scholars today.
