More Details on Mischa Maisky: Song of the Cello
A fitting tribute to Mischa Maisky - in celebration of his 60th birthday and also the 25th anniversary of recording with Deutsche Grammophon, not to mention his 30-year partnership with Martha Argerich.
Mischa has been actively involved in the choice of repertoire and the sequence of tracks - it's his personal selection of his favourite recordings.
Booklet text based on a new interview with Tully Potter.
CD1 ranges over his concerto repertoire, from his first recording in 1982 with Gidon Kremer and Leonard Bernstein of the Brahms Double Concerto (1st movement) to his most recent re-recording of the Dvorak Concerto with Zubin Mehta in Berlin. In between come Boccherini, Elgar, Shostakovich, Tchaikovsky and many others.
