About

Featuring music composed by Guilmant, Rachmaninov, Saint-Saëns and César Franck, this release is a must for all organ lovers.

The title of 'Key Connections: Salon and Symphonic music for Organ and Piano', gives us an insight into the combination of organ and piano which is regularly heard in popular improvisational concerts in the Netherlands.

The genre enjoyed a period of popularity in the salons in France and in America around 1900. An important work was initially thought to run into the larger living room or parlor, in which case, in addition to the piano, the harmonium was used.

The works on this CD are performed on the famous Cavaillé-Coll organ in Haarlem; there are relatively few recorded on CD.

Wim Does studied organ with Harm Jansen, Sophie-Véronique Cauchefer-Choplin and Ben van Oosten and obtained his diploma Master of Music at the Conservatoire of Rotterdam. He is joined on this recording by his wife, Susanna Veerman, also on organ, and are accompanied on piano by Mirsa Adami.
